A Sussex based business got in touch with our retail website designers as they wanted to have their products, they sell accessible online, so more people would be able to find them and help to increase the company’s sales.
The owner wanted to do things properly from the start and have an ecommerce shopping website built along with search engine optimisation to have the store ranking for search terms relating to their products.
Sussex scaffolding supplies are a large family run business who sell scaffold products to the general public across the UK. When they contacted us, they had no online presence and wanted their new shopping website to be created fairly quickly.
Our client opted for an online shop that was built using WordPress and the WooCommerce website design software to sell online as they had a little knowledge of both, they were super organised and had nearly all of the content ready for our retail website designers to begin creating their shop from the word go.
We had a telephone meeting with the owners to iron out how they wanted their store processes to work because although it was going to be a WooCommerce store our clients did not want customers to physically purchase products and pay online for the time being however they wanted the store and customers to be able to do the following:
The reason they do not currently wish for customers to purchase online was primarily due to the fact that delivery costs are different for every customer and the prices of delivery vary depending on two factors – the quantity and delivery location. So, they wanted customers to submit their “order” to get a price for delivery.
This was simple – the customer would shop online as normal adding products to their cart, then view their shopping basket and checkout or request a quote but rather than checking out and paying they would be sending their product enquiry to Sussex scaffolding supplies along with their details to obtain the delivery cost. In order to set that up we used a plugin for WooCommerce called RFQ-ToolKit: Request for Quote For WooCommerce.
Whilst the back end of the shop was being developed by our team, our retail website designers were busy creating the look of the front end. The following was completed for the homepage design.
We created another 2 information pages for the shop with a view to adding more once our client had completed the content for them.
Our client had 20 products ready with descriptions and images, so we created the categories for the items and then uploaded the product title, item description, the quantities available, their current price and images.
We added meta titles and descriptions to all pages and also all products ensuring that each product had individual meta data and not one product was the same. We also performed proven on-site SEO techniques to ensure every page was search engine friendly.
Our client has seen their website rankings reach page 1 of Google for its main keyword phrase ‘scaffolding supplies’ and page 2 for numerous other keywords and phrases and of which a number are still improving. This has seen an 82% increase in traffic to the website’s pages and a 56% increase in sales. This was not something that happened over night for this store, but they did start to see ranking improvements within 6-8 weeks of our SEO team performing such tasks.
The duration of our website builds varies but generally:
It all depends how quick we receive information and feedback from you. If you do have a timescale in which we need to keep to please let us know and we will ensure this is adhered to, these timescales are rough estimates.
If you want to sell your products online and would like a store built similar to Sussex scaffolding supplies, then please get in touch with one of our retail website designers who will be happy discuss your project.
